New Beginning, New Journey! Mazhang Lucky Bamboo Export Ceremony to Vietnam Kicks OffPublished: 2025-05-07 17:24:02
A grand departure ceremony for Mazhang lucky bamboo exports to Vietnam was recently held, marking a significant step in expanding international markets and deepening global cooperation for the lucky bamboo industry in the Mazhang Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange Pilot Zone. The event also highlighted Mazhang’s unique charm and robust strength as China’s "Hometown of Lucky Bamboo."
Mazhang Lucky Bamboo: Nature’s Gift, Artisanal Mastery
Nestled in the hinterland of the Leizhou Peninsula, Mazhang District enjoys a tropical maritime monsoon climate and fertile latosol soils, providing ideal conditions for lucky bamboo cultivation. Since the industry’s rise in the late 1990s, Mazhang’s growers have honed their expertise and pursued uncompromising quality, transforming lucky bamboo into a globally renowned symbol of prosperity.
Mazhang lucky bamboo boasts upright stems, lush green leaves, and a distinctive "pagoda" shape, earning it the nickname "Lucky Bamboo" and symbolizing fortune and success. Accounting for 70% of the global supply, it is exported to over 30 countries and regions, including Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and RCEP member states. In 2024, exports reached 365 batches worth $12.47 million (approximately RMB 91.24 million), reflecting year-on-year growth of 25% in volume and 21% in value.
Southeast Asia Market: Burgeoning Demand, Strengthened Ties
Southeast Asia’s tropical climate and cultural appreciation for auspicious, ornamental plants have fueled demand for lucky bamboo. Vietnam, a key regional economy, has seen growing agricultural cooperation with China, particularly in lucky bamboo imports. Mazhang’s product, celebrated for its quality and cultural significance, has become a symbol of China-Vietnam agricultural partnership.
The Vietnam-bound lucky bamboo, meticulously cultivated and styled, blends traditional symbolism with modern aesthetics, catering to Vietnamese consumers’ demand for premium home décor. With the RCEP agreement reducing trade barriers, Mazhang’s competitive edge in Southeast Asia is set to grow.
New Beginning, New Journey
At the departure ceremony, trucks laden with lucky bamboo stood ready to traverse mountains and seas, delivering Mazhang’s blessings to Vietnamese households. This scene embodies the thriving lucky bamboo industry and the fruitful outcomes of China-Vietnam agricultural cooperation.
The ceremony marks another milestone in Mazhang’s agricultural exchange, underscoring both industrial growth and bilateral friendship. Moving forward, Mazhang will adhere to its "green, innovative, open, and inclusive" development philosophy, using lucky bamboo as a cultural bridge to share the "green blessings" of the Leizhou Peninsula with the world.
